2015 Year In Review Banner

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (I Corinthians 15:58)

Our Sunday gatherings remain at the heart of all we do at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia. Week by week we gather to study the word of God, worship Him, and enjoy the fellowship of the saints and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Together we continue to seek both to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and also to share His Gospel with others.

When it comes to outreach, we look to invest in our own backyard first (Philadelphia) and branch out from there. This year Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia has been able to impact people all over the Delaware Valley through your generous support.

Rock Ministries

We helped with numerous local and neighboring outreaches through Rock Ministries in Kensington including Thanksgiving, Christmas and The Rock the Block Outreach.

Continuing our efforts at contributing to healing in our nation, we sent a chaplain to Baltimore to minister to people affected by the difficult situations there. Here in the city, several of our pastors serve as police chaplains.

City Outreaches

Crosswalk Junior High ministry participates in regular ministry to homeless in our city through Whosoever Gospel Mission. In addition, as a church we invest in numerous outreaches in North Philadelphia and Germantown, seeing many people make professions of faith.

Joni and Friends Ministry

We helped purchase a computer system for the Greater Philadelphia Joni and Friends ministry.

Shoe Drive

Partnering with Calvary Chapel of North Philadelphia (now Calvary Chapel Word of Life), we collected to over 2000 pairs of shoes and 1500 handbags to distribute to women living in five areas shelters.

Food Drive

In cooperation with local post offices, we were able to sort and distribute over 28 pallets of food throughout Philadelphia.

Prison Ministry

We continued our correspondence ministry to prisoners this year, with a team of volunteers communicating by mail with a multi-week Bible study course which helps inmates learn the scriptures. Bibles and Christian literature are also mailed on request. This year we saw the growth of our ministry to prisoners as well, with a visitation ministry which saw numerous inmates, ministered to family members of those incarcerated, and began three weekly Bible studies at Philadelphia County facilities.

Uganda We helped CC Entebbe build a new boat to reach the islands communities on Lake Victoria. We also sent 100 Audio Bibles in Lugandan for the church to give to families that are illiterate. We sent over 300 books and commentaries as well Pastor Joe’s Genesis to Revelation MP3 sets to pastor’s attending the Calvary Chapel East Africa Pastors Conference.

Ukraine We sent a 20-foot shipping container filled with winter coats, boats, hats, blankets, and other supplies to CC Kiev. These items were then distributed among the Ukrainian military on the front lines, as well as to needy families that have been displaced because of the ongoing conflict in the country. We sent two teams to Ukraine to visit the various outposts of the Ukrainian military in order to share the gospel and play Christian music for the troops. We were able to send Audio Bibles in Ukrainian to the military as well.

Turkey, Guatemala and Argentina CC Philly pastors traveled to these countries to teach and encourage pastors who are serving the Lord in these areas.

Israel We were able to support Israel College of the Bible and their internet evangelism ministry geared toward sharing the gospel with Israelis. The Lord has opened up many doors, including producing a primetime television show answering questions on what it means to be a Messianic Jew.

East Asia We sent another family into the mission field, serving the Lord in a predominately Muslim country that is closed to missionaries and evangelism. Please pray along with us for their safety, and for continued open doors for the gospel to be shared.
