The Home Fellowships of Calvary Chapel is a small group ministry designed to provide an environment for fellowship, prayer, and Bible study.
The Home Fellowships have a strong emphasis on developing a more intimate relationship with God, through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Psalm 133:1
These small groups promote a discussion of the Scriptures with a focus on the application of the Word of God in our lives.
Although each fellowship may have its own distinct personality, a typical meeting includes:
- Bible study: as we search the Scripture in order to grow in knowledge and understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ
- Fellowship: as we meet together as the Body of Christ and share our faith.
- Prayer: as we intercede in prayer for the needs within the Body of Christ.

The focus of our home fellowship is to help people develop a daily, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You can sit in the church and hear the Word of God but, for many of us, that’s the extent of our development as Christians. In a Home Fellowship we have Bible Study where there is discussion and you are free to ask questions. There is also time for prayer and interaction with others in the fellowship. We are here to encourage one another.

Our meetings generally begin with fellowship over coffee and desserts, catching up with one another from the last time we met. Then, sharing prayer concerns or whatever is on the hearts of the people in attendance. Next our worship team leads us out in music, worshipping our Lord in song and prayers of praise. Intercessory prayer is also carried out as we touch God for each other’s needs.
Immediately after our Worship and prayer we fellowship for a short period of time then “refine” our focus as we devote the time remaining to studying Gd’s Word. During our study, everyone is encouraged to question, share about and generally respond to the teaching. White our study is usually verse by verse, we will at times do a topical study, as we try to address specific needs within the fellowship.
After the study we break up into smaller prayer/accountability groups according to gender and share our more intimate concerns.
In addition to our regular evening meetings, we also set aside times for communion, men/women only meetings, retreats, covered dish dinners, bar-b-que picnics and special Christmas & Passover feasts. As you can see, second only to our love for Jesus is our appreciation of the fellowship of the saints!
Recently the Lord has opened up to us various mission opportunities. We’ve been serving at the Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission, located at 13th & Vines St, here in Philadelphia. and we have been, in a small way, supporting Calvary Chapel Orphanage in Nepal. What a blessing it is to serve side by side with brothers and sisters in the fellowship family!! Childcare provided.
