September’s book of the month is a “Must Read” for September and Beyond As you drive down South Broad Street toward the sports complex, on your right, you’ll pass Tindley Temple United Methodist Church, a nationally registered historic place. “The Prince of Colored Preachers” is the inspiring story of Charles Albert Tindley, a man of a Great God. This is a story of grace and glory. Born during slavery, never able to go to school, pastor Tindley journeyed from serving as an unpaid janitor to pastoring a multi-racial church of over 10,000 people. He’s a noted songwriter, composer of gospel hymns and is recognized as one of the founding fathers of American gospel music. Pastor Tindley’s life story is a vivid reminder that God is no respecter of persons, that promotion comes from the LORD and that little becomes much when it is placed in the Lord Jesus’ hands.
